CLEANING OF GOLF BALL
As agreed at the 2023 AGM
Balls that are off the fairway, that have mud on them may be lifted, cleaned and dropped
If a ball is off the fairway and has no mud attached, it can not be lifted, cleaned and dropped
And the ball must be played as it lies
To make sure no penalty is occurred or advantage taken, players must ask their playing opposition before cleaning
Balls on the fairway come under normal golf rules.

You may drop and play another ball without penalty when unable to find a player’s ball on the fairway or in the first or second tree line
The playing team opponents must agree where the ball came to rest
Where to drop when the ball has been hit in to the first or second tree line
So the ball has hit a tree and the player is unable to find his the ball
The ball could have
Gone further in to the tree line, come back on to the fairway or gone straight down
The ball must be dropped under the tree that the ball hit
The player must not seek any advantage by dropping outside the tree line
Where to drop and place the ball when on the fairway
The playing team opponents must agree where the ball came to rest and the ball played from there
Deep woodland
If the ball has been hit into deep woodland, then the leaf rule will not apply and a provisional ball must be played
Purpose of the leaf rule
This is to help speed up the play when looking constantly for balls under leafs would just slow the game down and cause long games
